'What to look for in a juicer?'

'8 Cost-Saving Tips When Buying A Juicer'

When I bought my first juicer I didn't have a clue what kind of juicers there were on the market, when to use a juicer or how I should use a juicer. I just walked into the kitchen appliances department, looked at the juicer's price tag and walked out 5 minutes later with a smile on my face. I just made an investment to improve my health and wanted to feel fit again.

I started juicing for weeks and weeks enthusiastically and found out that certain fruits and vegetables mixed tasted awful. Moreover the juicer I purchased wasn't made to juice all of the fruits and vegetables available. ''Ooops''. Furthermore my levels of enthusiasm dropped considerably after finding out that cleaning the juicer was an awful task and that the warranty only lasted 90 Days.

After this 'little incident' I promised myself to be well prepared before I would buy another juicer. So I surfed the Internet and bought myself some quality books full with juicer information. After this I headed over to www.kitchen-universe.com and bought myself a juicer that fulfills all my needs, even after 2 years of use.

This article will give you '8 Cost-Saving Tips' to help you find the juicer that meets and fulfills your needs.

Tip #1

Think about which fruits and vegetables you are going to juice in the future and that the juicer is capable of juicing both easily. The juicer needs to have 2 speeds for full extraction of the fruit's and vegetables' nutrients. Speed 1 is for softer fruits such as grapes, berries and peeled melons and oranges. Speed 2 is for harder fruits and vegetables such as apples, pineapple, carrots and broccoli.

Tip #2

The easier it is to clean the more fun you'll have. The parts that need cleaning are the plunger (I push the fruits down the chute with), the bowl with revolving blade and the juicing screen. Make sure to clean the bowl with revolving blade with a small brush but please be careful not to cut yourself. To make sure it's quality material check if it's dishwasher proof. The various juicer parts shouldn't be looking like the home improvement tool box but more like understandable parts that are easy to set up and take off for cleaning.

Tip #3

The juicer needs to have at least a couple of years of warranty otherwise it stinks. The longer its warranty the more trust the manufacturer has in itself. Would you trust a product 100% with just 3 months or 6 months warranty?
When you have any questions about your product or you need some spare parts for your juicer the customer service should be easy contactable through toll-free telephone, email or fax. When I mean easy I mean easy and not to be put on hold with unbearable background music for 10 minutes. And when you buy your juicer through the Internet you should have the possibility to check your order status through the merchant's website.

Tip #4

If you are the Speedy Gonzales type and want your juice as soon as possible go for a so called 'Centrifugal Ejection Juicer' with a powerful engine and preferable 10.000 revolutions per minute (RPM). Moreover when you are in a hurry you will need a juicer with a wide and large feed chute in order to push whole fruits and vegetables easily through.

Tip #5

The juicer should meet and fulfill your needs and should therefore be affordable to you. It's an investment and you definitely want to see some Return On Investment, which could be more energy, weight loss, healthy looking skin and hair, positive mood e.g. Please be aware that juicers in the cheaper price range often have limited warranty and this could cost you dearly in the future.

Tip #6

The juicer should look good at your kitchen table or wherever you want to place it in your kitchen and shouldn't look like a spice invader that screams from the kitchen. The juicer should be easy to store for you, so take a look at its dimensions and see if you already know a nice spot for it.

Tip #7

The juicer should be quiet in sound and should not sound like a saw mill waking everybody up in the house and making the neighbors ignore you from the rest of your life. The more revolutions (RPM) per minute it makes the more noise it produces.

Tip #8

The juicer should provide you with quality juice every time you use it but there is a difference in juice quality between the various juicers on the market. Some juicers work slowly with 100 RPM which means the juice contains more nutrients and enzymes; more value for money. If you're not that picky and in a hurry there are juicers that work with 10.000 RPM which is also good but it will also leave some valuable nutrients and enzymes in the pulp.

Now you have these valuable tips and I hope you use them to your advantage. I wish I had these tips at my side when I started to buy my first juicer. Use them and before you know it walk out with a even bigger smile on your face  knowing you've made an investment to improve your health, regain your energy levels and feel fit again.
